Here's a
lesson for everyone. It doesn't matter if you are a beginning student of
English or advanced, it seems as though everyone needs help choosing
articles. Articles are "a," "an," and "the." It's also important to know
when not to use an article. There are a lot rules. This Blue Level lesson will help you, but here I'll also include a few tips in this email.
Remember, the first time someone mentions a thing or a person, use "a" or "an" ("an" is used before words beginning with a vowel
sound.). These are things or people that are not specific.
- 1. This is a cat.
- 1. I have an idea.
- 2. The cat is wearing a hat. (1.)
2. The hat is blue.
- 2. The idea is very interesting.
In this exercise, choose "a," "an," or "the." There are situations in which no article is used. Ready?
1. ________ movie we saw last night was great.
2. Mary would like to get ________ piece of pizza.
3. Can you see ______ sun?
4. Joe felt sick so he went _______ home.
5. She has ________ interesting idea.
6. It's Ibrahim's dream to learn ________ English.
7. _______ Mississippi is ________ longest river in ________ United States.
8. _______ sink in _______ kitchen is full of dishes.
9. I'm thirsty. I need _______ glass of _______ water.
10. All of ________ questions were very difficult.

By the way, I'm testing out
new versions of the website for mobile devices and tablets. If you use a
phone to access the website, you will notice some changes. This will
take a few weeks to test. I'm also testing new desktop versions of the
website. If you are having problems with these new versions of the
website, or if you don't like something that we're experimenting with,
please let me know. Thanks!
That's all for now.
