The differences between IT and THERE


Hello Students,

How are you doing so far in following a plan to improve your English in 2015? If you study a little every day, you will reach your goals. 

Do you know the differences between the words "it" and "there"?

These two words are often confused by beginning and intermediate level learners of English.

See if this exercise helps.

Directions: Choose "it" or "there" to complete each sentence or question. Guidance may be provided with information in parentheses. (....)

1. How much is ________? (You're asking about the price.)

2. ________ isn't enough time to finish the job.

3. _________ is someone at the door. (First reference to a person)

4. _________ is a man. (This is the second reference to a person.)

7. How much is _________? (You're asking about an amount.)

8. Is _________ any snow on the ground?

9. Is _________ cold outside?
