English exercise -- practice the present tense

Hello Students,

Of the 3000+ pages on LearnAmericanEnglishOnline.com, the lessons that get the most attention are in the Blue Level and provide instruction on forming the present tense.

The present tense is used for everyday activity. What do you do every day? What do you usually do on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etcetera?

Here's an example:

I'm usually at home on Friday because I don't have classes to teach. I work on my website in the morning. Then, I ride my bike to downtown Minneapolis where I eat lunch with friends or clients. Sometimes I go shopping on Friday. In the evening, I get together with friends or spend time with my family.

Do you see where all the present tense verbs are?

In this exercise, provide the missing verbs from the list of words. All of the verbs are in the present tense. Some of these verbs are negative:

be      catch      do      go     have     like      make    wait     work      use

Kevin ______ a good friend of mine. He _______ as an artist. He ________ ________ a lot of money, but he _______ happy doing what he _______.  During the week, he ________ shopping for art supplies and materials. Kevin is a good friend of mine. He works as an artist. He doesn't make a lot of money, but he is happy doing what he does.  During the week, he goes shopping for art supplies and materials. Sometimes I go with him on his hunt for things that he uses in creating his art. 

We usually have lunch at an Indian buffet or a Vietnamese restaurant because we both like that kind of food. If a restaurant is too busy, we don't wait for a table to open up. Instead, we go somewhere else.

On the weekends, we usually go fishing. Kevin is good at fishing, but I am not. I just like to eat the fish we catch.
