The verb DO is a helping verb, too. Exercise in English.

Hello Students,

Iin the last email I sent you, you learned how to use the verb "be" as a helping verb. The verb "do" is also an important helping verb. In the present tense, use "do" or "does," depending on the subject. For the past tense, you always use "did." (This Red Level Lesson provides additional help if you need it.)

  • What does he do every day? (does = helping verb)
  • They don't like the new bridge. (do + not) = helping verb)
  • Did you have a good time last night? (did = helping verb)
  • I didn't like the movie. (did + not = helping verb)
This short YouTube video will help you understand more about how "do" is used to make questions and negatives in the present tense and past tense.

When you are ready, try this exercise. All you have to do is choose the correct form of the helping verb do (do, does or did). Pay attention to the verb tenses.
